“ We are so proud to share our new organization with you – “Czar’s Promise”; and with this new venture, our efforts will be on very specific, compassionate and educational goals:
- Provide funding for canine cancer research on a local/regional basis (Midwest) to institutions such as UW Madison’s School of Veterinary Medicine, and other Midwest veterinary research institutions
- Provide funding specifically to human cancer research centers, such as the Carbone Cancer Center, McArdle Research Center
- Provide financial, educational, outreach and emotional support for LOCAL families whose dogs have been diagnosed with cancer
Czar, my one-in-a-million Great Pyrenees, is the reason why we started this journey together to help our community fight cancer beyond what we were able to do as individuals. Czar served our local community as an American Family Children’s Hospital Pet Pals’ therapy dog for 5 years, and was an ambassador for kindness, loyalty, compassion, integrity and an extraordinary devotion to helping others. Czar eventually lost his battle to osteosarcoma (bone cancer) on December 20, 2013. But it is because of the promise I made to him, and still do today, and the promises we have all made to our beloved companions, friends and family suffering with this horrible disease, that “Czar’s Promise” will carry forward and begin this very important and dedicated mission with a more focused and LOCAL fight against cancer.
