With the assistance of Dr. Katie Hilst, we were able to let Jack go at home, on his orthopedic pad on the couch with his human mom and dad, cat sister Zoie and bird sisters Skye and Ivy all surrounding him. Dave and I would like to thank you once again SO VERY MUCH for helping us to give Jack the peace and relief from the pain that he so deserved. I’m so very glad that we were able to send him off to heaven here at his home vs a vet office. Given the pain he was in, having to get in the car and go to the vet’s office would have just sent him over the edge totally. We also appreciated your kindness, compassion and the way that you explained everything to us one step at a time, including the post euthanasia possibilities given we would have Jack here at home with us for a day or more.
Thank you also for the sweet paw print that you made for us. It is very special to us. I baked it right away and it is on our shelf in the dining room where it will sit with his ashes.
Thank you again.
Dr. Katie made an incredibly difficult day a lot easier to manage. Her kindness, gentle approach and caring demeanor put me at ease as we said goodbye to our cat, Jenkins of 16 years. I cannot recommend her enough.
Dr. Catie Hawkins was amazing! We couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you for your care of and compassion with our Unique!
Dr. Katie made a new friend when she arrived at our home to meet Kallie (Kallie Krossfire of Keitz). Our boxer, of nearly 12 years, had DM. We wanted a private, relaxed and care-free exit for Kallie. She deserved it. It was tough. But, Dr. Katie offered all of the experienced techniques that provided the entire experience to be as natural as possible. We highly recommend this to anyone who is considering the same thing.
Words cannot express how thankful we are to have found you in our time of need. Thank you for helping us say good-bye to our very special baby and helping us know we made the best decision possible.
It was the hardest decision I have ever had to make to put Pearl to sleep as her body was beginning to shut down due to old age (she was 22 years old). I am not quite sure I would have been able to do it without Dr. Katie. She was kind, compassionate and I could tell that she cared about my pet even though she had never met Pearl before. She explained what to expect and walked us through the process step by step. I felt relieved and somewhat at peace knowing that Pearl was in good hands and was allowed to cross over peacefully.
Thank you Dr. Katie from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea what comfort you were able to provide us during Pearl’s last moments.
I just wanted to let you know that your Journeys Quality of Life Scale was very helpful for us today. We were struggling with watching our 21 year old cat start to fail, and despite our best efforts at gauging her quality of life and her suffering, we were struggling with the decision. Our vet was supportive, sage, kind, and helpful, and offered us your pamphlet. It helped us quantify all of the factors that had been swimming in our heads, and made it ok to let our sweet Mrs. Binxy go.
Good work, and thank you.
Dr. Hilst with her compassion and kindness made Meow’s journey over the Rainbow Bridge a stress free journey. We appreciate all that she does for our furbabies and for their parents. God bless you Dr. Hilst. You truly are are an Angel.

Thank you for your kindness, gentle care of our sweet Abbey … it will never be forgotten
Dr. Laura was wonderful ❤️
Thank you Dr. Katie for being there when we needed you. We immediately knew we were in good hands. You were so compassionate to both Riley and us, assuring us that he was not in pain and that the end would be peaceful. Being at his side, in his home, at the end of his life was extremely important to us. We wanted him to know that he was loved and would be missed – you gave us that chance. Our clay footprint will be a cherished memento of him for the rest our lives. You truly have found your calling and we are grateful we found you.
